Class of 2024

Matt Gogel’s career has been defined by perseverance, redemption, and a deep connection to Pebble Beach. After missing the cut at the 1992 U.S. Open as an amateur, he returned in 2000 as a PGA Tour rookie, leading the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am before a legendary Tiger Woods comeback left him in second place. Two years later, Gogel claimed redemption at the same event, sinking a 35-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure his first—and only—PGA Tour victory.

Before that, Gogel dominated the Nike Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour), winning six times in four consecutive seasons. A Kansas native, he played college golf at the University of Kansas, where he won the Big 8 Championship and earned NCAA All-American honors. After turning pro in 1994, he competed internationally before earning his PGA Tour card in 1999.

Following his retirement from professional golf in 2007, Gogel transitioned into broadcasting, spending nearly two decades as a golf commentator for The Golf Channel, NBC Sports, and CBS Sports. In 2021, he joined the PGA Tour Champions, making the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs three times in four seasons. Off the course, he remains active in the Kansas City community and is currently involved in developing The Metropolitan Golf Club, a world-class golf course in the area.
